Help needed from admins speaking javascript

I am working on a backlog of {{Edit request}}s. I can handle most file, template and Lua requests but I do not speak javascript. Can someone help with requests at Category:Commons_protected_edit_requests_for_interface_administrators? Jarekt (talk) 17:21, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Aircraft vs. airplanes

I'm categorizing De Havilland DH.106 Comet into 1940s airplanes to distinguish between airplanes and other aircraft. But @Uli Elch: is reverting my changes as "faulty deletions". I was trying to diffuse the large 1940s aircraft into different types. They claim that I'm doing a "pure vandalism" to remove some entries from 1940s aircraft and put them under smaller 1940s airplanes. They have added that it won't be possible to "find individual aircraft/airplane types which have been arbitrarily distributed between two cats". 1940s airplanes is a subcat of 1940s aircraft. Sbb1413 (he) (talkcontribs) 17:45, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Sbb1413: at least from your description, it sounds like you are in the right here. @Uli Elch: what do you have in mind?
(By the way, this does not seem like an admin issue, and might better have been brought to COM:VP.) - Jmabel ! talk 20:29, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@ Jmabel: What I " have in mind" can be clearly found here. --Uli Elch (talk) 08:29, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
agree with Jmabel, not yet a Admin issue and this isn’t the correct venue for this type of discussion. 21:33, 9 July 2024 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bidgee (talk • contribs)

User:VNC200

Hello, This is a repprt for @VNC200. I will first provide 2 deletion discussions for reference.

Both the cases are nearly same. I uploaded a file, VNC200 a bit later uploads an exact copy of it. Nominates my upload for deletion under duplicate criteria. Despite him uploading after me. Now the first deletion discussion where my upload was deleted shows that the admin @Billinghurst clearly said that VNC200 did a bad faith editing and his actions were against the community guidelines. But my copy was deleted only bcoz his was in use on Wikipedia. Now the same thing is happening again. I uploaded a file. VNC uploaded exact copy some time later and has now nominated my version for deletion claiming it to be duplicate despite him being the one to upload later. Things don't stop here. I advised him against doing so at his talk page. But he doesn't seem to be listening to advises and adhering to rules. Also an example of edit warring/vandalism can be seen in revision history of the duplicate file where a bot tagged his file for Speedy deletion under duplicate criteria. But he keeps on removing it every time he logs in. I would request the community to please resolve this issue. I can't just let my legitimate uploads being deleted without fault. ShaanSenguptaTalk 11:49, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Done I did a speedy keep for the current case, redirected VNC200's uploaded version to use ShaanSengupta's, and warned VNC200 to stop doing this. - Jmabel ! talk 18:16, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

User: Ruach Chayim

Hi,

This User talk:Ruach Chayim keeps overwriting University_of_Prishtina_logo_(1970-1999).svg with no link providing its source. I looked up and I couldn't find any evidence that the logo he's referring to exists back from the 70s. Apparently that logo popped up after the war in 1999 when the parallel university was established in North Mitrovica under the name "Univerzitet u Pristini". Also he has a history of edit warring on his talkpage. So I'm requesting a block on him. AceDouble (talk) 12:57, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings. User talk:Savasampion gave the evidence. Ruach Chayim (talk) 13:37, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry my network is breaking up constantly. Now I see it, thank you very much. AceDouble (talk) 14:02, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In any case these files could coexist separately (i.e. not replacing each other) if the conflicting file (the black logo) is actually verifiable Bedivere (talk) 16:01, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dick Schoof images

Hi! There has been a recent influx in uploads of the official portrait of the new Dutch PM Dick Schoof. I believe it is the same user:

  • User:Auguste Comte Lover uploaded a cropped image yesterday at 14:48, and five minutes later an anonymous user places it on the English Wikipedia (see here)
  • User:AragostaDeGamberis uploads another image again today (can't find the timestamp anymore), and the same anonymous user places it again (see here)
  • User:Weber Johnson uploads the first image again, and the same anonymous user places it on the Italian Wikipedia (see here). The user page of Weber Johnson also suggests the user is aware of the copyright issues.

Would it be possible to block this user? And would it be possible to make sure these pictures are not uploaded anymore without admin approval? I see that the name of the second picture has now been protected, but one can still place it under another name right? Thanks in advance! Dajasj (talk) 14:30, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Dajasj: Would you please fill out a COM:RFCU with diffs and links to the filenames?   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 14:49, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, see Commons:Requests for checkuser/Case/Weber Johnson Dajasj (talk) 15:08, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Blocking is no longer required. File:Dick-schoof-3 cropped.jpg can be removed tho. Dajasj (talk) 15:28, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Follow-up: Mass reversal of additions to Category:History

Original discussion: Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/Archive 96#Rollback additions of thousands of uncategorized images to Category:History

Can someone do the mass revert, or can I be granted the rollbacker role to do it myself? Thanks. Cryptic-waveform (talk) 16:00, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Cryptic-waveform: we need to revert ~25K edits (as confirmed by the before-after from the Web Archive and now). I was considering using w:User:Writ Keeper/Scripts/massRollback.js but the contribs page will timeout with anything above 4K edits so I'd need to do 7 rollbacks, and there could be a lot of errors. If you know of any scripts to help do the mass revert please link it so I can do so, or I can just give rollback to you and let you figure it out from there if you want. Either way let me know. —Matrix(!) {user - talk? - uselesscontributions} 17:18, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
