I’ve implemented my own using firefox mKiosk https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/mkiosk/ and disabled a few function keys in ~/.config/openbox/lxde-rc.xml. I’m not sure how durable this solution will be but it was definitely fun. I’m also curious to try a thumb drive solution (running android, win 10 ect).

The main problem with Chromium kiosk mode that I’ve found is that any windows or tabs that spawn (via shift or control click, or other means) usually arent bound by kiosk mode restrictions. You can exploit this to get at the filesystem, among other things. I’ve been able to mitigate some of this with xmodmap, Javascript and some other tricks, but not completely.

I’d be interested to hear how this has held up in your setting since you posted this.
